Task 2: People in the community can buy cheaper products nowadays. Do advantages outweigh disadvantages?
In the contemporary world, people have various breakthrough technologies to produce products with cheap prices to meet the demand of the society. Although there has been some support about the negative effects it may bring, I firmly contend that the opposite sides are more obvious.
To begin with, it has been evidenced that this trend may be disadvantageous to some extent that raises public concern. One of the most noticeable downsides is the significant increase in poor quality goods trading in the market these days. To be more specific, the quality of a product is invariably associated with its expenditures. For instance, when a variety of products imported from China with the considerably lower prices entered Vietnam, the consumer quickly realized that these ones cannot work efficiently or easily break down than others from Japan or Europe. Another worth-mentioning reason is that unregulated cheap products may cause adverse effects for the environment. Particularly, if people in the community can buy cheaper products, it would lead to the trend that they can easily throw the used ones away without considering whether they are still working or not to buy other new ones. As a result, the environment would be polluted due to the remarkable increasing waste as the lack of society’s awareness.
On the other hand, there are numerous worth-analyzing reasons for me to claim that the benefits this trend may bring are more valuable than its negative effects on the community. First of all, cheap consumer goods can meet the demands of all social classes. To be more specific, people buying items with lower prices can save a fortune of money to afford other things for their better standard of living, especially the low-income people. Besides, it also offers people a sense of fulfillment when they would pay for their favourite products. Secondly, the national economy can be boosted significantly due to the wide range of consumption productions. More jobs will be created because many companies have to expand their sales in order to meet the demands of society. Therefore, it partly contributes to decreasing the unemployment rate and the development of countries in the world.
Taking all into consideration, whether people can buy cheap consumer goods nowadays brings positive effects to the society or not is still a controversial issue. From my perspective, although it may bring several negative points for the community, there are strong pieces of evidence to conclude that the positive points are worth-considering.
